Introduction to the Aurora Village Co-opLocated in beautiful Aurora, Ontario, (in the
Regional Municipality of York), the Aurora Village Co-operative
is a development that
welcomes people from a variety of social, cultural and economic
backgrounds into an environment that fosters respect,
participation, and above all, co-operation.
What is the primary advantage of co-operative living?
Affordability. You simply won't find more value for your rental
dollar elsewhere. Our units are typically
below the cost of comparable market units. Our town houses are
contemporarily designed with spacious rooms, garages, and yards. Additionally the Aurora Village Co-op
is ideally situated near the major intersection of Yonge and
Henderson streets, close to shopping, schools and transit (GO
Transit train and bus, VIVA bus as well as York Region Transit
bus). Highways 400 and 404 are both only a 10 minute drive away.

Participation & PIP
One of the reasons our units are so affordable is that much of
the work required to maintain and administer the co-op is done
by members. There is a three month "settling in" period after
your move in date during which your participation is not
mandatory, but after that all members over the age of 18 are
required to participate in
some aspect of the co-op's operation, and many choose committee
work to fulfill their participation obligations. The number of
hours you contribute are referred to as your PIPs (Participation
Incentive Program). If your daily schedule makes it difficult
for you to attend regularly scheduled committee meetings,
contact the co-op office to inquire into other opportunities to
fulfill your PIPs.
If you are a member of a committee, the PIP Committee
secretary
automatically records and submits your attendance. If you are performing work not associated with a
committee you must submit a PIP form, available from the co-op
office.
